AN AWARD FOR MISTER ROSSI (1960)
Mister
Rossi develops a passion for movie making, and inadvertently makes
an award-winning film. Mister Rossi, all house and family, happens
one day to see a videocamera in a shop of photografic articles,
and won by a sudden passion for the cinema world, he decides buying
it. From that moment on, his life obviously changes in a radical
way : everything around him becomes "subject" to be filmed.
Any place is suitable : the mountains, the countryside, and logically
the city itself. He even manages to smash down half a house, breaking
the furniture and all the rest, to set up his own little theatre.
After all this work, Mr Rossi finally edits the film, puts the sound
to it and presents his modest film at a festival where... it gets
refused. Taken by anger, he grabs the film, ruins it, cuts it, scratches
it and stains it, and this new "film", chancely viewed
at the Festival, wins an Oscar.

MISTER
ROSSI GOES SKIING (1963)
Mr
Rossi decides to spend his weekend in the mountains. He gets up
early and, after a short trip, arrives to his destination and starts
his fantastic ski adventures. He has to queue up with a lot of people
at the ski-lift but this is only the first of a series of setbacks
wich he experiences during his "holidays". Also the sun
appears to be teasing him, coming out and going away very quickly,
warming him when he is heavily dressed and failing to do so when
he is lightly dressed. We then see his spectacular headlong falls,
evolutions and crazy flights. Jumping off the ski board he flies
as a bomb, through a window, directly into his Hotel room. The film
ends showing Mr Rossi going home, after having burnt all of his
skiing equipment.

MISTER
ROSSI AT CAMPING (1970)
Mr Rossi is
at present up against the problems of camping. Attracted by the
perspective of a rural life and of a return to nature, far from
noises and inconveniences of the city, he throws himself into this
new experience. Unfortunately he notices soon that the "civilization
noises" arrived also to the most solitary and lonely places.
Radios, motor-scooters, televisions, electric saws and other noisy
inventions prevent his resting and oblige him to take shelter in
more and more lonely places, always more difficult to be reached.
Just in one of these places, at the base of a dyke, Mr Rossi finds
the quietness and the peace he was looking for. But also the most
beautiful dreams stop at dawn, when, sometimes, also dykes are partially
emptied...

ROSSI AT PHOTO SAFARI (1971)
Mr
Rossi on the pretext of a photo safari leaves to the conquest of

to have the possibility to immortalize a free and primitive world
not yet corrupted by a conditioning civilization. But after his
arrival he finds a very different reality. Obliged, by a travel
programmed in every detail, to continuous tiring movings, Mr Rossi
in the center of a standardized and electronic Africa, among several
mishaps, tries to photograph some wild beasts but they are always
killed under his eyes an instant before his photo, by a crowd of
blood-thirsty hunters.

MISTER
ROSSI IN VENICE (1974)
Mister
Rossi this time finds himself in Venice, against his will. His adventures
take place in an always more polluted lagoon, under rotten staggering
buildings, aboard overcrowded and dangerous steamboats. The Venice
of the postcards is only a remote memory. Certainly not sproned
by a social duty, but in order to catch the pretty tourist's attention,
Rossi too tries to fight against the disease that is destroying
Venice. But his battle is similar to Don Quixote's fight against
the windmills. As a matter of fact, in spite of his good will, abundantly
seasoned with the typical madness of the character, he will be defeated.
He had indeed engaged a battle with a too big enemy : pollution.
