Since its very beginning in 1981, the famous Tv program QUARK has become the hallmark of the TV scientific educational field. Bruno Bozzetto’s animations, omnipresent since the start of Quark, have made it possible to simplify subjects of a very complex scientific content through a visual commentary to Piero Angela’s voice-over which debates about the most varied topics, from the quantum theory to human behaviour, from genetic engineering to ecosystems.
The relationship, based on friendship and professional cooperation, between the scientist and the Cartoonist continues still today, witnessed by the recent production of a few animated clips of environmental subjects for SuperQuark, ”Alle pompe di benzina” (“At the petrol station”,2006)  “Schiavi per la benzina”  (“Slaves to petrol”, 2006), and “La demografia” (“demography”, 2008), the latter made by Studio Bozzetto&Co. while Bruno Bozzetto was at the same time working over the illustrations of Piero Angela’s latest book by the title “The reasons why we should have more children” (2007). These 3 educational animated shorts  have been made by exploiting the 2D animation technique/Macromedia Flash.
