WHO IS MISTER ROSSI
The first and most familiar character born from the sketches of Bruno Bozzetto in the 1960’s is Mister Rossi, a funny little man dressed in red who embodies the middle-class Italian in which the audience identifies with. Mister Rossi has starred in 7 animated shorts all sharing the beautiful sound-tracks composed by Franco Godi, also appreciated as musical pieces and made immediately enjoyable to non Italian speaking audiences through the lack of dialogue.
Throughout the 1970’s, 3 animated long feature films were made, this time all featuring a dialogue which translated and dubbed into several languages were distributed worldwide.
Co-produced by Wagner Hallig Film and RTSI, Mister Rossi long feature films are well known in Countries such as Germany, Austria and Switzerland where DVDs featuring German dialogue and extra Mister Rossi content, were released on their markets a few years ago.
Since the 1960’s, Mister Rossi has appeared and continues to appear in many different forms, from books to illustrations, from advertisements to gift-objects, and to satirical cartoons made by Bruno Bozzetto and published by the Corriere della Sera newspaper every Monday where Mister Rossi, as any other average Italian citizen, harshly laughs at the faults of the Italian society.
